Restoire Restaurant Website Benchmark

The State of Restaurant WebsitesEurope 2026

We assembled a sample of 284 restaurant websites across 13 European countries and ran each one through the same analysis. 127 could be reached and fully processed. This is what we found in that sample.

How we did this

Every number below comes from one benchmark run over a fixed sample. Nothing here is estimated, modelled, or generated.

284
Websites in the sample
127
Reached and analysed
44.7%
157
Could not be analysed
unreachable 141 · no restaurant data 11 · extraction failed 3 · robots disallowed 2

Most sites we could not analyse were unreachable from the benchmark host at run time. That is a property of our network conditions, not a claim that those restaurants' websites are down. Every rate in this report is measured against the sites we did analyse.

What we measured on each site

  • Whether a menu was found, and how it was published
  • Whether a reservation path was detectable
  • Street address, opening hours, phone number
  • Usable photography and broken images
  • Whether the main content needed JavaScript to render

We also scored each analysed site with the Restoire Website Score v1 — a deterministic score across seven areas. It is our score, not an industry standard. Mobile-specific signals were not captured in this historical run, so that part of the score falls back to a neutral default where it is unknown.

What this is not

  • The sample is European, not global, and not a random draw of all restaurants.
  • Network reachability from the benchmark host affected which sites could be analysed.
  • Not every feature can always be detected automatically; a missing signal is not proof of absence.
  • Scores are the Restoire Website Score v1, not an official rating.

Website scores

The Restoire Website Score v1 rates a site across menu, reservations, restaurant information, mobile experience, photography, brand and usability. Here is how the analysed sample scored.

Can a visitor actually book?

We checked whether each site exposed a reservation path a visitor could follow — a booking widget, a reservation link, or a clearly presented phone route.

A third-party provider is a perfectly good choice; it is shown here only to describe the sample, not to rank it.

The essentials

Address, opening hours and a phone number are the questions every guest asks before they visit. We checked how often each was detectable.

Photography

Photography is how a restaurant sets expectations for the room and the plate. We counted usable images and looked for broken ones.

One signal we can measure directly: whether a site's main content is present in the HTML, or only appears after a browser runs its JavaScript.

A note on reading this

This is one sample, analysed once, with the Restoire Website Score v1. It is enough to describe patterns — many restaurants put their menu in a PDF, opening hours are often missing, most sites carry usable photography. It is not enough to make claims about causes or about restaurants we did not analyse.
